Hello, Denver!

Apr. 13th

HMI Cardinal is now in Denver; delivering our huge line of enclosures, commercial and aluminum products to area locations twice weekly. We may be new to the Denver area, but we’ve been a leader in the aluminum and glass industries since 1948. We started out as a small aluminum extrusion company and moved into the shower door market in the 1980’s. Today, we are the largest domestic manufacturer of shower doors and house our own tempering facility in Louisville, KY. In 2013, we expanded into the commercial market offering a full line of commercial products, including storefronts and curtain & window walls. We’re excited to have your business, and wanted to introduce some of the people you will be working with.

Mark Schulte (pictured to left) is our outside sales representative covering the area. He’s been with HMI Cardinal for more than ten years, with previous experience in the IT industry. He grew up in Louisville KY and has three children (13, 11 & 8). Mark attended the University of Dayton, and had a short career in minor league baseball. He enjoys coaching youth sports and playing golf.

Bruce Wiles is your senior inside sales representative. He’s a rising star at HMI Cardinal, and now has 2 years experience in the glass industry, in addition to 2 years of heavy construction experience. Bruce spent 11 years in the Army prior to that as an NCO in an artillery battalion.

Travis Schoenhoff is your junior inside sales representative. He’s been with HMI Cardinal for 4 years, working various warehouse positions until we brought him into the office. His experience pulling material, fabricating showers and loading trucks brings invaluable background knowledge to the position.

Your driver, Curtis Denmon, has a background in running a transportation company, sales, accounting and customer service. He’ll be doing a combination of sales and deliveries in your area for a bit. Curtis lives in the Denver area and is married with children. We were excited to bring him onto our team in January of 2017.

We just recently opened a warehouse in the area, so besides the twice weekly shipments from Louisville, select items will be available for 24 hour turnaround deliveries. Speak to Mark Schulte if there is something you’d like us to keep in stock for you there (i.e. 12ft stock lengths of J-bar, flat bar, u-channel, etc).

Cardinal has gone Commercial

Apr. 13th

Did you know we’ve expanded into the commercial arena? We’re not just shower doors and aluminum moldings anymore; we’re also a trusted source for all your storefront, curtain and window wall needs.

Over the years, we noticed a growing demand for commercial systems. So, in early 2013, we decided to answer the call and introduce our own comprehensive line of architectural aluminum products designed for the commercial aluminum and glass storefront and curtain wall market. And thus, Cardinal Commercial Products, or CCP as we affectionately call it, was born. Built on the same commitment to service, quality and aesthetics as Cardinal Shower Enclosures, CCP can take care of your particular needs from design to delivery.

CCP offers an extensive range of products specially designed for today’s modern building structures backed by a commitment to superior service and expertise which has been our key to success for nearly 70 years. Over the past several years, we have fine-tuned and expanded our product offerings. From storefronts and entrances to curtain wall systems, our products afford limitless choices and unmatched quality for every project. to learn more about our products and services.

We offer entrance doors (narrow, medium and wide stiles) with mechanically fastened corners that have a sheer block that is the full height of the top and bottom rail.

Our storefront systems can accommodate ¼ glazing (CF450), 1” and ½” with adaptor (CF451) as well as a thermally broken option for the 1” and ½” (CF451T).

Our window wall system (CWW451) and thermally broken window wall system (CWW451T) are designed for interior or exterior glazing.  The Front Glazed Stack system (COS451) allows easier job site fabrication and installation by forgoing the screw spline assembly.

Our Captured Curtain Wall system (CCW725) can be assembled as captured or blind glazed, and will fit ¼” or 1” glazing.  Utilizing panelized assembly allows for “ladder” type installations.

In addition to our extensive product line, CCP offers a wide variety of finish and glass options, as well as in-house powder coating and fire rated glass; making us your one-stop shop for all your commercial needs.

Cardinal Commercial Products uses the latest technology and production equipment to offer competitive lead times and prices. All standard framing systems, including curtain wall, feature screw-spline assembly for simple fabrication and labor saving installation. Series 200, 300 and 500 entrances feature interlocking corner block construction with five mechanical fasteners in corner construction which eliminates the need for welded corners and provides structural integrity. We back each entrance door we sell with a limited lifetime corner construction warranty. Moreover, all Cardinal Commercial Products systems have been tested to the latest AAMA standards by Architectural Testing Laboratory for water, air, and structural performance.

Cardinal Commercial Products will continue the tradition started by Hoskin & Muir, providing top quality service, a broad product line, and on-time delivery. We look forward to growing with you in the commercial market.

Making a difference for children in need

Dec. 31st

Christmastime can often be a time of stress, uncertainty and sadness to the disadvantaged in our communities. Several years ago, the employees and owners of HMI Cardinal decided to do something to change that by sponsoring children from The Home of the Innocents through their holiday Adopt a Child program.

This year marked their 3rd annual donation and was their largest one to date. Through the kindness and generosity of everyone involved, children who otherwise may have gone without, woke up Christmas morning with countless presents under their tree! Employees and owners donated toys, clothes, electronics, stocking stuffers and time to the program, in the hopes of making Christmas a bit brighter for the children living at the Home of the Innocents and boy, did they make it brighter!

Each year, HMI Cardinal’s employees have increased their giving, spreading Christmas cheer to more and more children. Knowing the smiles their donation gives to the children each year makes every bit of time and money put into the Adopt a Child program worth it. Their giving doesn’t just end at Christmas. Throughout the year, HMI Cardinal’s employees donate food and money to programs helping those in need. It’s just part of who they are as people and as a company.

From the Home of the Innocents website: “There are a number of ways donors can help the Home. Legacy gifts that will last long past your own lifetime; one-off donations and recurring monthly gifts; the cost of a night of care at the Home; all the way down to donations of goods and clothing that cover life’s practicalities. You can even order donations through and save yourself a journey to the Home.”

If you are able, please visit and consider donating to help bring joy to those in need.

We are growing and looking for help in sales, manufacturing, delivery, design, and more!

The Cubit

Nov. 28th

Efficiency and Sustainability

The Cubit is a former factory building in downtown Holyoke, MA, that has undergone a major renovation. Holyoke Community College’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center will be the project’s anchor tenant and renovations to the upper floors will result in 18 Apartment Lofts.

This modern and energy efficient design maintains a historical look which is appropriate to the building's age and was accomplished using Cardinal Commercial Products CF451T thermally broken storefront system. Yankee Glass of Holyoke, MA, was the lead glazing contractor on this project and handled all fabrication and installation in-house. This included the integration of a projected window and grid system which helped maintain the proper look for the project.

When used in conjunction with our thermally broken storefront system, Yankee Glass helped to bring this older building into the modern age of efficiency and sustainability.

New! Retro Seedy Glass is introduced

Sep. 12th

HMI Cardinal is proud to introduce a contemporary adaptation of a classic—our new Retro Seedy Glass. This glass combines the best of the looks of seeded and antique glass. Soft, undulating optical distortions seen in antique glass fused with tiny pinpoints of light and shadow reminiscent of traditional seeded glass results in a captivating piece of art. As the saying goes, everything old is new again and our Retro Seedy Glass is just that. Our Cardinal Seedy Series kiln formed restoration glass harkens back to sheet glass made before the turn of the century and the advent of the modern-day float glass process. This thermally formed sheet glass is made in a revolutionary method allowing it to be utilized where traditional antique glasses cannot as it is tempered and comes in 3 different thicknesses: 6 mil, 10 mil and 12 mil, giving you the look of the old with the safety features and flexibility of the new. The elegance of this new classic comes from subtle optic distortions created by a galaxy of tiny surface irregularities on one surface of the glass. Unlike other patterned and rolled glass, Cardinal Seedy Series glass does not obscure the view, instead altering it giving it a rich, warm, and distinctive caricature sure to enhance many situations where the ordinary simply will not suffice.

It’s time to experience this contemporary kiln formed classic in your next designer glass project. Whether you’re looking to add a wow factor to your bathroom, lobby or storefront, our Retro Seedy Glass is available in a variety of applications, sizes and colors. It’s the perfect solution when your project demands something different; something extraordinary.

Our cast glass artist has developed a new technique for creating these low-relief patterns. Best of all, they can be made with any of our glass types, including our Starphire (optically-clear low-iron glass) in 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" thickness, or any of our other glass colors.
